“人” and “入る” — Similar shapes but totally different meanings and usage

「人（ひと）」と「入る（はいる）」は漢字（かんじ）の形（かたち）がとても似（に）ているため、よく間違（まちが）えられます。でも、意味（いみ）も使（つか）い方（かた）もまったく違（ちが）う言葉（ことば）です。今回（こんかい）は漢字（かんじ）の由来（ゆらい）や形（かたち）の違（ちが）いも含（ふく）めて、わかりやすく説明（せつめい）します。

「人」は左（ひだり）の線（せん）が上（うえ）に向（む）かって伸（の）び、右（みぎ）の線（せん）はそれより少（すこ）し短（みじか）く下（した）に向（む）かって斜（なな）めに伸（の）びています。まるで人が立（た）っている姿（すがた）を表（あらわ）しているような形（かたち）です。
The kanji 人 has the left stroke extending upward, and the right stroke is slightly shorter, slanting downwards. It looks like a person standing.
