What is the JLPT?

The Japanese Language Proficiency Test (日本語能力試験, Nihongo Noryoku Shiken), known as the JLPT, is a standardized criterion-referenced test to evaluate and certify the Japanese language proficiency of non-native speakers. The test covers language knowledge, reading ability, and listening ability and has five levels: N1, N2, N3, N4 and N5. The easiest level is N5 and the most difficult level is N1.

What is AP Japanese？

AP Japanese, or Advanced Placement Japanese, is a college-level course and exam offered by the College Board for high school students. It is designed to assess students’ proficiency in the Japanese language and their understanding of Japanese culture. The course typically covers various aspects of the language, including reading, writing, listening, and speaking, and it may include topics related to Japanese literature, history, and society. Students who perform well on the AP exam may earn college credit or advanced placement in college-level Japanese courses.
